Learn moreConsider a higher ratio of plant-based products vs. animal products. Fruit, vegetables and cereals show an extensively better environmental impact, as livestock breeding is resource and energy-intensive.
Choose fresh produce and avoid greenhouse vegetables. Favour fresh products over deep-frozen ones. Also, beware of greenhouse produced veggies as a lot of energy is needed for electric lighting, watering and heating.
Avoid air transportation and favor short distances. Avoid airplane transportation with its high emissions due to fuel consumption. Be aware of long transport distances.
Meals (or products) are granted climate-friendly status if they are better then most meals being served (currently 76'034 in our database). A climate friendly meal has at least 50% LESS CO₂ emissions then the average meal. The average meal is defined as 1/3 of your daily requirement.
